Our Get Together group at Whittington Park Community Association had a great time on Saturday at The Big Day Out in Whittington Park as part of the brilliant Holloway Festival.

The sun was shining and the atmosphere was vibrant as everyone enjoyed ice cream, music, dog shows, crafts, art, games and more. Our Get Together group, who meet at Whittington Park Community Association every Wednesday from 2 – 3.30pm gathered together their beautiful creations and set up their stall. We had some good sales, with the handmade toys proving popular as well as the cushions and baby clothes. All proceeds went back into the group to go towards more materials.

Everyone had a lovely time – so huge thanks to Katia from Whittington Park Community Association and Holloway Festival.

Last Saturday we were joined by residents from Mildmay Park to enjoy some cake decorating at King Henry’s Walk Garden. Taking shelter from the wintery weather in the kitchen glitter, gems, flowers and an array of icing were embraced by all as everyone iced their own cake – to eat or take home (if you could resist…).

This weekend we enjoyed a fantastic beer-tasting session at King Henry’s Walk Garden – as well as the first glimpses of spring sunshine! The resident expert beer-brewer and real ale enthusiast sampled the first taste of our version of a London bitter – it was very good! Everyone got a bottle to take home too.

Join us for another exclusive preview of the British Museum’s next exhibition – ‘Life and death in Pompeii and Herculaneum’

Sunday 24th March – call for entry times on 0207 281 6018.

‘AD 79. In just 24 hours, two cities in the Bay of Naples, southern Italy, were buried by a  catastrophic eruption  of Mount Vesuvius.  Preserved  under ash, their  rediscovery  nearly 1,700 years later provided an  unparalleled  glimpse into the daily life of the  Roman Empire.
Starting with the  bustling street, and moving  through the intimate spaces of  a  home, you will be transported  into the lives  of ordinary Romans nearly 2,000 years ago, before  devastation  struck. From the atrium to  the garden,  bedroom and dining room, this personal  journey will  reveal parallels with our own lives today.
With over 20  years since  the last major exhibition on Pompeii in the UK, recent  discoveries  alongside celebrated objects, including  body casts, will  reveal new insights into this highly captivating and  human story.
An  unmissable exhibition.’
